Shopika started as a college project in Nakuru — talking to small business owners, water suppliers, and retailers to understand the real challenges of Kenya's digital divide.
Made Official
Business Name Registration
Registered Shopika as a business name (sole proprietorship), turning the college project into a real, operating business serving early customers.
Incorporated
Company Registration
Incorporated Shopika as a company, laying the foundation to scale the platform and team beyond a single founder.
Platform Launch
Airtime & Bundles Services
Launched our core connectivity services: airtime for all networks, data bundles, and airtime-to-cash conversion. Started USSD service (*384*4444#) to reach users without internet.
Growth & Expansion
Scaling Across Kenya
Expanded services to cover major Kenyan cities. Introduced the marketplace — water, gas, grocery, and pharmacy delivery. Reached 50,000+ customers.

Merchant Tools Launch
